Sugar Skull masks - polymer clay, glitter, acrylic paint, varnish - by Jainnie Jenkins |
Wow, I apologize for not posting for a couple of months! I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the start of summer!
This spring I participated in Sarajane Helm's mask swap again, and decided to do Sugar Skull masks. I had seen these sugar skull candy molds down in Taos, NM, but found out that they are available from La Fuente Imports (which has their warehouse here in Colorado Springs!). Mold making is still a bit tricky for me...I don't know if I am just impatient or haven't quite got the technique down, but my molds worked well enough for the purpose.

I was feeling a bit concerned that I added so much painted decoration instead of it being "clay" embellishment, but I still like them. Now if only I had started much, much earlier...but why does that never happen for swaps?
